What is Online Training?
Online training is the delivery of the same hands-on sessions that we offer in classrooms around the UK but instead provided as virtual training for you to access remotely.
Our scheduled courses take place using the popular online meeting application Zoom enabling you to see and hear our experienced instructor go through the content from the comfort of your home/office. Whether your preference is online or are unable to get one of our centre classes then our online courses will offer you the way forward to fulfil your training requirements from your home or workspace without the need to travel.
How Online Training Works
Online training is organised in the same way as a physical course selecting your type and date preference however your booking confirmation will include further details about the online course and how to join it. Final details ahead of the course will include the session log-in information which for scheduled sessions is hosted via Zoom.
For the duration of your course you will be live with one of our training instructors similar to if you were in attendance at one of our centres. You will be able to see the trainer and hear the trainer, view his screen and learn the skills as you work alongside on your computer. The instructor will be able to assist virtually with any queries you have and can view and take over control of your screen remotely if you need assistance. At the end of the course you will receive your certificate of attendance as normal.
To attend one of our online courses you will need to have the following:
- Computer with the software installed for the course you are attending which can be either a full version or a free trial version of the software
- Internet access
- Sound output via computer or headset
- Ideally a camera and microphone on the computer for remote contact
Please note that for bespoke sessions we can use other video conferencing solutions including MS Teams.
Technical Access Options
When attending an online course virtually there are a number of technical options to access our sessions.
1. Computer + 2nd Monitor
Using a desktop or laptop computer with an additional monitor is the ideal set up allowing ease of joining the virtual course once but having access to split the 2 screens with the trainers presentation and your application use on separate displays. This best replicates the experience of our training centres where we have trainer presentation alongside the delegates computer.
2. Computer + 2nd Device
With a desktop or laptop combined with an additional device including iPad, Phone or laptop will provide a great setup with the computer to use for you and the device for the trainers presentation joining the session easily on both.
3. Computer
The courses can also be attended using simply a single computer although this does limit the access to screen space for working alongside the presentation. This is best suited to those with larger monitors. This can also work well if your preference is more to mainly watch to focus on the presentation and take notes.
Please note that a two screen/2 device setup is recommended but not essential, you can still join with one screen.

Our bespoke courses which offer private training for small or large groups or individual 1-on-1 sessions are provided either face to face at our centres or your offices or can be delivered online. A private online course is organised as usual with tailored content on specific dates but offers additional flexibility and ease of access for you or your team without travel. Bespoke online courses can be hosted with our default online system using Zoom or if preferred using MS Teams.

How are online courses
delivered?
Our online scheduled courses are provided using the meeting platform Zoom where our instructors present the software skills live for the hands on course with you following online remotely from your location. You can listen to the instructor and ask any questions you might have but also the instructor is able to view your screen and take control remotely where appropriate to provide you support during the session. Bespoke courses can be delivered using Teams or Zoom.
What equipment is needed for
online courses?
To attend an online course you will require the following:
- Computer with the software installed for your chosen course (full licence or trial)
- Ideally a separate screen or device for the shared video display
- Sound via output computer or headset
- Ideally a camera and microphone on the computer for remote contact
What software do I need to
have installed?
You will need either the full licence or trial version of the application in question for the course to be installed on your computer along with the Zoom application although this can be auto installed when joining the course meeting providing your have install rights on the computer. For certain courses where there is no specific application such as web coding courses a range can be used but we will provide details on these in advance of each session.
Is the online provision different
from the classroom?
Both the trainers and course content are identical to the courses delivered in our classrooms the key difference is they are delivered with the online presentation style and with the use of your equipment.
How will I access example files
for the course?
Course files are used for most courses as examples to use on your computer during the sessions and links to these will be provided to you in advance of the session to download. Alternatives are available for delegates who have IT restrictions for downloads.
Can I take my ACA Exam
remotely?
Yes ACA Examinations and ACA Advanced and ACA Masterclass courses are all able to be taken remotely online.
