What is the difference between Adobe
After Effects and Premiere Pro?
Both Premier Pro and After Effects are widely used in the film and video production industry, but each application's suite of tools offers users different functions that compliment each other when used in tandem. Premier Pro is an video editing application, while After Effects is used for video compositing used post-editing to add special effects and graphics. Work edited in Premiere Pro can be transferred to After Effects via a Adobe Dynamic Link.
Which of the video applications is
best suited to my project needs?
This will largely depend on which part of the production and edited process you are focussing on. For instance, if you are involved with video edit, you might decide to choose a Premier Pro course, whereas if it is application used for video compositing or special effects in post-editing, we recommend Adobe After Effects. If you are still unsure, our team are on-hand to discuss your project requirements further to advise you.
What is the best course for a beginner to
video editing and motion graphics?
Our 2-day introductory course to Adobe After Effects is perfect for motion graphics beginners. The course covers creating and manipulating animations, understanding keyframe manipulation and interpolation, using colour effectively, applying special effects and masks and exporting your work. For editing our 2-day introductory course allows users to learn the fundamentals of Adobe Premiere Pro. During this time you will be taught how to manipulate, organise and export clips to a professional standard, learning processes that includes adding titles and effects and making cuts. Our Adobe Video Masterclass Combo offers a combined coverage of both applications and skills to suit any video project.

I think the only thing missing was some notes to support the content as it was delivered such as a crib sheet with short cuts and key technical terminology. It was hard to keep on track and make notes at the same time. Tom did offer to record the second day which will be helpful if wanting to recap on certain aspects.

It was a great introduction into the world of After effects, which I now understand to be a beast of program when it comes to what it can produce. Tom was great and helped us step by step along the way and was very knowledgeable about the program. There were a few times his connection cut out, however this did not hinder the learning experience. It would of been nice to have seen the example of what we are going to produce shown at the beginning of the session so we have a better understanding of what we are aiming for. In addition to this, as its the first time we've more or less used the program, I believe it would of been great to have a Crib sheet or some notes sent to us before the session. We questioned this at the beginning of our second day, and only then the session was recorded and helpful documents were sent soon after. Completely understand for copyright reasons some things cant be done, but just a small A4 crib sheet with shortcuts or a run down of the days key actions might have been great for the introductory session. Overall enjoyed the Adobe After Effects Two Day Introduction Training Course, as it has provided myself with food for thought going forward.

Opportunities to learn what I needed to or what I was interested in. Simon was able to create little projects for any idea for anything I wanted to learn. A comprehensive look at loads of parts of the software. It might help to come with some pre-knowledge doing advanced course since it moved quickly in order to learn as much as possible.

Tutor was very knowledgeable and understood how to teach different elements of AE. From beginner to expert level info. Would have preferred a little more indepth on a few things rather than a whistle stop tour, but it was good nonetheless. Perhaps having a continual tutor from start to finish needs to be within isolation as there were a few overlaps of teaching on day 3/4/5 (predominantly day 5 prep for exam) as individual added on to the course was with a different tutor.

Very good experience. Well delivered. Friendly environment. Kind of gutted I didn't go for the full beginner and advanced. Only slight bit of feedback would be signage to the training rooms as intercom wasn't working, and the email didn't specify what floor to go to. Maybe better signage or clearer pre-course instructions.

I have found it difficult to keep up, it has been a lot of information crammed in to 2 days. Mareck is a good teacher but the pace could have been much slower to really get to grips with the basics, there almost needs to be one day to go through all the functions and some basic tasks. It would be benfeficial if he walked around the class to see if students needed help, he was not very hands on. Students had to help one another to figure things out.
