Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main benefits of effective Colour Management workflow?
Colour management enables colour simulation to be applied across a workflow, allowing you to simulate print before committing. This allows you to save time throughout the design process and cut down on wastage as colours will be consistent and reliable.
Do you offer tailored/bespoke courses for Colour Management?
We provide bespoke sessions for Colour Management training with course content that is tailored to your level of knowledge, experience and ability. The content can also be tailored to the projects that you will applying them to, making sure you get the most out of the training. What is an ICC Profile?
An ICC (International Colour Consortium) profile is a set of data that characterises the colour attributes of a device - mapped between the device source and the profile connection space. Every device that displays colour can be assigned an ICC profile, defining the colours that will be displayed by that operating system, once the profile has been matched and implemented, the colour wll be displayed as intended.
What is the difference between RGB, CMYK and L*A*B Colour spaces?
The RGB colour model stores the values of red, green and blue - RGB values are commonly used for digital images. The CMYK colour model stores the values cyan, magenta, yellow and black, these values are used for the print process, and defines the kind of inks that are used. L*a*b is defined by the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) and is modelled on a colour opponent theory that states two colours cannot be red and green or blue or yellow at the same time. This model helps to identify colour inconsistencies, offering designers greater control.
