This 2-day Advanced course will help to develop your skills as you explore the advanced features of Adobe After Effects CC. This course is intended for those who wish to enhance their existing knowledge of After Effects and who work with video or with other forms of motion graphics.
You will need basic experience in using After Effects. Ideally, you will have taken our Adobe After Effects CC Introduction 2 Day course.

This course is provided at the XChange Training Manchester training centre based at:

Manchester
M1 2APPiccadilly House is located in the heart of Manchester directly next to the Piccadilly Gardens transport interchange with excellent bus and tram connections and is easily accessed from Piccadilly train Station (5 mins). Victoria station is also close by (around 10 mins).
Daily course times run between 10am and 4:30pm with an hour break for lunch and both mid morning and mid-afternoon refreshment breaks. We recommend arrival at 9.45am for registration on the first day of the course.

Only issue with arrangement is minor - voucher was fine but I think an hour is too long - 30 mins would be fine and leave earlier IMHO - overall the course was great - very useful content and a lot to take away and use. Thanks Mike!

Great builder on top of the beginner course - starting to gain an in depth knowledge on a lot of tools learnt within the first 2 days. Utilising these tools through different topics has solidified both my knowledge and confidence with these tools.

I think the only thing missing was some notes to support the content as it was delivered such as a crib sheet with short cuts and key technical terminology. It was hard to keep on track and make notes at the same time. Tom did offer to record the second day which will be helpful if wanting to recap on certain aspects.

It was a great introduction into the world of After effects, which I now understand to be a beast of program when it comes to what it can produce. Tom was great and helped us step by step along the way and was very knowledgeable about the program. There were a few times his connection cut out, however this did not hinder the learning experience. It would of been nice to have seen the example of what we are going to produce shown at the beginning of the session so we have a better understanding of what we are aiming for. In addition to this, as its the first time we've more or less used the program, I believe it would of been great to have a Crib sheet or some notes sent to us before the session. We questioned this at the beginning of our second day, and only then the session was recorded and helpful documents were sent soon after. Completely understand for copyright reasons some things cant be done, but just a small A4 crib sheet with shortcuts or a run down of the days key actions might have been great for the introductory session. Overall enjoyed the Adobe After Effects Two Day Introduction Training Course, as it has provided myself with food for thought going forward.

Opportunities to learn what I needed to or what I was interested in. Simon was able to create little projects for any idea for anything I wanted to learn. A comprehensive look at loads of parts of the software. It might help to come with some pre-knowledge doing advanced course since it moved quickly in order to learn as much as possible.

I enjoyed it very much and learnt a lot, even though as an older student I am possibly not as computer literate as some of the younger students at times I found it a bit challenging the speed of the class but realise there was a lot to get through.. it was me struggling to find files and access things quickly at the same speed as everyone else…

Tutor was very knowledgeable and understood how to teach different elements of AE. From beginner to expert level info. Would have preferred a little more indepth on a few things rather than a whistle stop tour, but it was good nonetheless. Perhaps having a continual tutor from start to finish needs to be within isolation as there were a few overlaps of teaching on day 3/4/5 (predominantly day 5 prep for exam) as individual added on to the course was with a different tutor.

Very good experience. Well delivered. Friendly environment. Kind of gutted I didn't go for the full beginner and advanced. Only slight bit of feedback would be signage to the training rooms as intercom wasn't working, and the email didn't specify what floor to go to. Maybe better signage or clearer pre-course instructions.

Enjoyed the course. Did it last year and recall how challenging it was. A year on, it makes MUCH more sense! Knew what to expect and was able to correct my own errors as and when made (well, mostly). Tutor Mike is a very good instructor, nice pace and good attitude.

I have found it difficult to keep up, it has been a lot of information crammed in to 2 days. Mareck is a good teacher but the pace could have been much slower to really get to grips with the basics, there almost needs to be one day to go through all the functions and some basic tasks. It would be benfeficial if he walked around the class to see if students needed help, he was not very hands on. Students had to help one another to figure things out.

Overall I enjoyed this course, it will be useful for my current and future roles, as well as giving me the knowledge and confidence to seek out tutorial videos. I do however think that the course could be structured in a different way to cater to people's needs. I felt that the some of the content we created could have been more mature/professional/targeted towards our industries, but I understand that the main purpose is to develop a skillset through creating/re-creating graphics. I also feel as though we could have worked towards an objective for the last day to assess learning, or working on something new instead of repeating and recapping day 2 in 3D environments. The pace of the course was ideal, especially with people who were completely new to AE, and Simon was always kind enough to re-show steps that might have been missed or misunderstood.

Due to the limitations of online delivery, the sound and picture quality was not optimal. The sound was muffled if the trainer was not in front of his laptop, and other people in the room were completely unintelligible, making hearing questions impossible.

The course has been great. I enjoyed the setup of having two monitors, one for myself and one to view Simon's screen so I could watch what he was doing from my desk. It was great being able to ask Simon an array of questions about various things we were doing (which he answered them all!)

What are the course times?
For all courses in the Manchester Centre the normal session timings are 10am to 5pm with an hour break for lunch. In addition to the hour lunch break there are also two fifteen minute coffee breaks mid morning and mid afternoon.
