What is colour correction and colour grading for video and do I need it?

A combination of both processes are required to achieve the desired final work. Colour grading enhances the overall look and feel of a final piece of footage, having an enormous role to play in the ambience and atmosphere of the film, the emotions that are triggered and how it is perceived by viewers, it is a highly creative, as well as technical process. Colour correction is a more one-dimensional process that allows elements to appear as 'clean' and natural as possible, representing real-world likeness. Without colour grading and colour correction, it is unlikely that footage will achieve the vision and meet expectations.

I travelled from Scotland to Manchester for this course and it was really worthwhile. I didn't have much knowledge or experience with colour grading or DaVinci Resolve before starting but I now feel comfortable to use the software. There were plenty of practical exercises to practice everything learnt and this allowed more opporunities to ask questions and problem solve. It was a good mix of listening and taking part.
