Captivate Classic Advanced 2 Days
Course Details
This 2-day Advanced course will help to develop your skills as you explore the advanced features of Adobe Captivate 2019. We will show you how to produce professional eLearning projects through the use of software simulations and complex quizzes. You will understand how best to use audio and video in your projects. With our expert guidance, you will even be able to harness the advanced power of variables and conditional scripts, which will bring a new level of rich interactivity to your presentations and quizzes.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Set up advanced templates and share libraries
- Review video setups, including multi-slide video
- Create and use system and user variables
- Write complex conditional scripts
- Use the Branching panel
- Randomise quizzes by using question pools
Our goal is for you to be able to create professional eLearning projects that harness all the interactive features on offer in Adobe Captivate.
Course Target Audience and delegate prerequisites:
This course is intended for those who wish to enhance their existing knowledge of Captivate and who wish to produce highly interactive eLearning presentations.
You will need basic experience in using Captivate. Ideally, you will have taken our Adobe Captivate 2017 Introduction 2 Day course.

This course is provided at the XChange Training Manchester training centre based at:

Manchester
M1 2APPiccadilly House is located in the heart of Manchester directly next to the Piccadilly Gardens transport interchange with excellent bus and tram connections and is easily accessed from Piccadilly train Station (5 mins). Victoria station is also close by (around 10 mins).
Daily course times run between 10am and 4:30pm with an hour break for lunch and both mid morning and mid-afternoon refreshment breaks. We recommend arrival at 9.45am for registration on the first day of the course.

I found the course to be a little slow-paced for me. But I think that's because I'm fairly competent picking up and using new systems so I learn and understand quicker than others might; and also because the instructor (Craig) gave such clear, simple instructions and explanations that I found it all fairly easy. I would also suggest sending the link through to downloading course materials earlier than 1.5 working days before. I had technical issues that meant I was still trying to download the materials in the 20 minutes before the course started. Had the link been sent through 5 working days beforehand, the issues and solution would have been sorted in advance.

Mark was brilliant throughout and extremely knowledgeable. He supported us throughout even going above and beyond in helping us get access to the various resources required for the session. Due to our systems and protections in place, downloading files from external websites or emails can be challenging and can take up to a week to get approved. Having access to these files earlier would be beneficial.

The training delivered by Mark was great. A lot to take in having no prior knowledge of Adobe Captivate but Mark allowed for questions and opportunity to revisit elements as required. One area that did cause some stress / frustration was the sharing of files prior to sessions. We encountered problems in getting files to download that our IT dept couldn't resolve. If files had been shared sooner we may have been able to get a resolve in time for session starting. Mark was great at sharing the files we need in the chat during the session though so all worked out in the end.

Trainer was very patient when I wasn't able to access the software due to my own issues. Adapted the training really well to accommodate those who were doing the practical exercises with those of us who weren't. I found some elements of the content quite challenging but the trainer was very engaging which really helped keep focus.

Trainer was knowledgeable and capable. They offered good conversation and a good use of a show-and-copy style that allowed me to learn what I needed. I'd say that XChange Training could improve the rating I put for 'organisation' above if there was some way of contacting the client's IT support earlier before the training to see if there was a way of getting round the company's firewalls and such for the delivery of course material. Either that or perhaps contacting the attendees directly say a week beforehand instead of a day beforehand to allow us to contact our own IT teams in time to arrange things. For the trainer, I would say that though I liked their delivery, I might feed back that I think the flow of the day and expectations of the attendees could be managed better with learning outcomes to show us where to direct our attention, to make sure we take away the most fundamental points, and by introducing a little knowledge checking - even just through shared screens and a little playback of what we've built ourselves - to check we're all on the right track. Ultimately, I learned enough Captivate to have a good shot at it myself here but I do know that some other from my company struggled at times.

Our trainer, Craig, was absolutely fantastic. Not only did he make the course engaging and enjoyable, but his approach (knowledgeable with honesty and whimsy) genuinely improved my understanding and made me more engaged. I have left the training more confident in my use of Captivate and we are now implementing new things from our training.

Great course, setting and tutor. Would be great to have had classroom set up or a chair that span to help with neck ache going from computer to screen. Lunching at 1pm meant a lot of the supermarkets were bare with options.

Craig is a very engaging and knowledgeable instructor who provided relevant and appropriate advice and guidance. He answered questions and queries in a respectful and sympathetic manner with additional background information and justification to support learning and the embedding of new knowledge. Craig has a dynamic and holistic approach, this combined with their easy going personality made me feel very welcome, putting me at ease and ready to learn. He did well to support learners with their understanding of new concepts without alienating those who already had some prior knowledge. Personally, I think I would have benefitted more from in depth training of some of Captivate's more advanced features, as the content is clearly targeted at new users with an overview of these features. However, in summary my experience was wholly positive and I would recommend to my colleagues.

It was great to catch up again on the Captivate training and to refresh parts of the programme I had not used for quite some time. This has given me a greater confidence in using the software for my future eLearning projects. Craig is a confident trainer and explains how to use the system clearly and patiently. What are the course times?
For all courses in the Manchester Centre the normal session timings are 10am to 5pm with an hour break for lunch. In addition to the hour lunch break there are also two fifteen minute coffee breaks mid morning and mid afternoon.
